In 1965, a group of citizens stood up to the uncontrolled development throughout the state, and the environmental destruction that accompanied it. They formed PCL to remedy the state’s fast-paced development.
We give all of California a voice in policy it might not otherwise have. We speak for you and the environment in the halls of California’s Capitol to protect the air we breathe, the water we drink, the food we eat, and the land we love.
We invite you to become a part of our mission. Together, we can improve our environment, build healthy and thriving communities, and ensure everyone has a voice in shaping California’s future.
We support policy and legislation to protect our environment, and we work to promote open space, habitat, and healthy communities to ensure a legacy for future generations.
PCL and PCL Foundation internships are a great way to become familiar with environmental policy in California, and to network with other environmental non-profit organizations, government representatives, and other stakeholders. We have a friendly, flexible, and fast-paced office, and our interns provide key support to our environmental mission.
Work assignments include policy research, report writing, event planning, and outreach to community groups. Interns work on a core project and often provide support to PCL staff on other assignments. You will also have opportunities to work at the Capitol, such as attending hearings and meetings on assigned bills. Please contact us if you are interested in an internship in conjunction with your school or university.
To apply for an academic-based internship, please email a cover letter, resume, and writing sample to jobs@pcl.org.
